Introducing the Onda MyTile 9.7″ ebook reader – video

February 28th, 2010 by Nate Hoffelder · No Comments · hardware news

I just came across this dark horse entry into the e-reader field. Onda Communications is an Italian tech company that specializes in wireless devices: Wifi, 3G dongles, etc.  The MyTile is their first ebook reader. It has a 9.7″ E-ink touch screen, Wifi, Bluetooth, SD card slot, HDMI out (WTF?), email, handwriting recognition, voice recording, and support for Adobe DE DRM. Onda are also offering to help customize the MyTile to fit a niche market, and the optional upgrades include 3G, GPS, CDMA, RAM, CPU, as well as the addition of a LCD screen.

It’s rather interesting that Onda didn’t develop a 6″ e-reader first. I think they realized that the 6″ market is crowded, and competition would be intense with little reward.

I found a promotional video for the MyTile; it’s not good for much other than as proof of the MyTile’s existence.
