From Wicked Local:
A laboratory fire at E Ink – a Cambridge company that makes the displays for Amazon’s Kindle and other e-book reader devices – sent one employee to the hospital and left the company with close to $350,000 in damages Friday afternoon.
On Friday at 11:54 a.m., fire crews responded to E Ink’s research and development facility at 733 Concord Ave. where a fire sparked and flashed inside a laboratory fume hood.
“A product the employee was working on ignited in the hood,” said Deputy Fire Chief John Gelinas. “There was no release of any exotic chemicals or products.”
