Nook outsells Kindle?

April 26th, 2010 by Nate Hoffelder · 1 Comment · hardware rumors

Digitimes is reporting that more B&N Nooks were sold in March than Amazon Kindles. According to data they received from parts suppliers, the Nook accounted for 53% of the US market.

I don’t believe it. The Nook could not possibly outsell the Kindle’s worldwide sales.  Also, since Amazon ships Kindles out of the US distribution centers to all over the world, there’s no way for a supplier to tell where the devices go downstream.

These are shipments not sales. Indicative of 2 things(warning:speculation to follow)
1)Possible pent up demand from B&N to push the Nook into its stores.
2)Preparation by B&N for a big sales push – the Best Buy partnership & TV ads suggests this.
