You probably know about the typo found in Pasta Bible, an Australian cookbook, a few weeks back? (One of the recipe’s called for freshly ground black people.) The publisher pulped all remaining copies and ordered a reprint. But they didn’t recall pull books that had already been distributed.
According to Nielsen BookScan, sales for the two weeks after the typo was found were up 275% on the previous fortnight, from just 48 copies sold to 180. Obviously there’s no such thing as bad publicity.
