Paradise Publishers launches new free ebook website

May 3rd, 2010 by Nate Hoffelder · 1 Comment · ebookstore news

I just heard about a new free ebook site. Paradise Publishers has announced Free-eB0oks.net. This is a membership site with 2 levels. The standard membership is free, but you’re limited to only reading the ebooks online (and 5 PDF downloads a month). The VIP membership lets you download the ebooks in PDF, Epub, and Mobipocket.

The press release for this just dropped into my inbox this morning, and I’ve spent a few minutes looking at the site. I’m not sure it’s worth getting a free membership, and I know that  I would never pay $49 for the VIP membership.

Most all of the ebooks in the SF section are already in the public domain, and can be found elsewhere. I’ve flipped through several of the copyrighted ebooks (html version). They all had very poor formatting. Also, the the site’s online reader is too big for my screen.I’m going to pass. There are many other sources of free ebooks out there.
