Guess what? Some of the apps have been there for over a year.
If you’re wondering WTH I’m talking about then I suppose I should tell you that these aren’t technically apps. A number of enterprising developers have designed simple games like sudoku, card match, and Jumble that can be used from the Kindle. For most of the games developers host their game on their website and put a link to the game inside a Kindle ebook. But some of the games are actually on the Kindle.
Okay, so they’re not apps. Who cares. You can get games for your Kindle, and you have a bunch to choose from.
The first one I like is Tic-tac-toe by Jon Larimer. This ebook has 16 games in it, which means there are a bunch of different playing styles. It won’t work on the original Kindle, but it should work on everything else. This ebook has a sequal: 2 player Tic-tac-toe. No Whispernet is required.
If you’re a programmer, you might be interested in how it was programmed.
Another interesting app is a card matching game called Remove-a-Pair. It’s sold in 2 volumes, and this one is entirely contained on your Kindle (no Whispernet required).
The next game I want to show you is Jumble (like the one from the newspaper). This is 1 of 3 games developed by Puzux (along with Sudoku and Crosswords). Puzux has a total of 36 game apps available in the Kindle Store, and all require a web browser + Whispernet.
