The German bookstore chain Thalia have announced that they will be selling their own e-reader. The Oyo is based on a 6″ Sipix screen, and it has 2GB Flash, touchscreen, Wifi, microSDHC card slot, Adobe DE support.
It’s up for pre-order now, and it’s going to ship in October. It will use Thalia’s ebookstore, of course. A 3G version is planned for the future.
I recognize the hardware. I showed you a prototype e-reader from Medion about 6 weeks ago (here and here). This is the same device.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a SiPix screen. What made my jaw drop was NO FLASH when he switched pages. How did they pull that off when Sony didn’t in the new Pearl-screened Readers?
There is still a flash effect on Sipix screens it’s just flashing to white not to black. New Vizplex e-readers have a type of refreshing that isn’t flashing (but leaves some gray artifacts on screen).
