November 27th, 2010 · 2 Comments · kindle app
Hangman showed up in the Kindle Store 3 days ago, and no one seems to have noticed. Nah, I think it more likely that no one cares. They’re not really news anymore. So this is Hangman, and you play it just like any other version of the game. For those who don’t know, you try [...]

What I’m Thankful For: That Pirated Copy of My Book
November 27th, 2010 · 1 Comment · opinion
A day or so after those in the US finished celebrating Thanksgiving, I had reason to thank my lucky stars for pirates. Mike Cane pointed me at this story this afternoon. Then a representative from developer relations informed the CEO of Mediaprovider, a small magazine publisher based in Denmark, that he couldn’t put a magazine about Google’s (GOOG) Android on the App Store. According to Mediaprovider’s Brian Dixon, the exchange went like this: “So what’s the problem?” [...]

Some random 8″ Android tablet clears FCC
November 26th, 2010 · 3 Comments · hardware news
The title isn’t rude; this tablet has no brand name nor any distinguishing features or abilities. It’s based on an 8″ (800×600) resistive touchscreen, and runs Android v1.5 on a 600MHz CPU, 128MB RAM. It has Wifi, microSD card slot, HDMI out, speakers, and a headphone jack, but no camera, accelerometer, GPS, 0r microphone. If [...]
