Prestigio have added a couple new e-readers to the pair I showed you back in July, one with an LCD screen and the other with an E-ink screen. The first e-reader, which you might recognize as the Trekstor or the Nextbook Next1, has a 7? LCD screen(800×600), 2GB Flash, a microSD card slot, but no [...]

Monopoly Kindle app could use some work
December 22nd, 2010 · 1 Comment · apps & games, software reviews
A couple days ago EA released a Kindle app version of Monopoly, the classic board game from Hasbro. I immediately got it, and now I regret spending the $2.50. I don’t think that anyone will play this game very long before they abandon it.

When the Samsung E60 debuted in the UK at WH Smith and Curry’s, it was selling for £199.99. That was only 4 months ago. Now it’s selling for half price. Yep, I’d say it’s on the way out the door. This is 1 of 4 e-readers that Samsung first announced at CES 2010. It’s based [...]

That’s what Bloomberg are reporting: Amazon.com Inc. is likely to sell more than 8 million Kindle electronic-book readers this year, at least 60 percent more than analysts have predicted, according to two people who are aware of the company’s sales projections. Jason Davis of Bookbee scored an exclusive interview with Mark Tanner, the new head of the Australian Google Ebookstore. The only real difference is that Skytex are a US company and MiGear are Australian. It’s also available in the US under the brand [...]

This delightful video is probably going to make the rounds of all the book blogs. It’s from last Christmas. After opening a bunch of toys, this 3 year old opens a present and finds books. I find his reaction hilarious. I really don’t understand why some people are bothered by the kid’s reaction. He doesn’t [...]

New hacked firmwares available for Sony Readers
December 21st, 2010 · No Comments · hardware news
I came across a post today on MobileRead. The poster wanted to share the ongoing hacking projects over at The-Ebook.org. The first goal of hacking the Sony Readers was to provide better support for Cyrillic fonts and the Russian language. But now they’ve gone beyond that small start. The post I was reading mentioned a [...]

Every so often I like to write a post about artists who use books as source material. It’s been some time since I last posted on this, unfortunately. The other day I came across Su Blackwell, a UK based artist. You really should visit her website and check out her portfolio. It’s breath taking. While [...]
