Wexler just announced a clone of the Sony Pocket Edition

January 28th, 2011 by Nate Hoffelder · No Comments · hardware news

Last week Wexler announced a new e-reader. The e5001 has a 5″ E-ink screen, micro SD card slot, 4GB Flash, MP3player, but no touchscreen or Wifi. I can’t tell if it supportsĀ  DRM, but it does have decent format support (TXT, RFT, PDF, DOC, CHM, HTM, HTML, EPUB, FB2). It’s available now with a retail of 6,999 rubles (about $235).

I’ve covered this e-reader before. In China it’s known as the Newsmy 5102. TBH, I call this a clone of the old Pocket Edition, but I think that’s just a coincidence. There’s only so many ways you could put 4 buttons and a d-pad on an e-reader.
