Amazon are having a saleĀ this week, and I have to say I’m a little tempted. You can now get any of 9 Kindle apps for under a buck. I’m not sure I want to play most of these, but at this price I’m willing to experiment. The sale runs until 27 March. SCRABBLE EA [...]

ALA respond to HarperCollins library ebook restrictions
March 15th, 2011 · 2 Comments · press release
This press release says about what you’d expect. We Disapprove. But it doesn’t really have any kick to it, which is why it kept getting bumped to the bottom of my to-do list. Have you read Cory Doctorow’s editorial in The Guardian? Now _that_ was worth a read. The logic, the passion, the insightful arguments [...]

But Amazon aren’t the one giving it away. For the longest time I’ve said that Amazon wouldn’t give away the Kindle and so far I’ve been right.TBF, every time I’ve argued against it, one or more commenters have suggested that it would be “given away” under a cell phone style monthly contract. That is what’s [...]

Yesterday I predicted that the Amazon Appstore would open sometime in the next week. I’m going to revise that estimate and tell you that I think it’s going to launch today or tommorow. There’s a high level redirect for the Appstore at Amazon.com/apps. The link is now live, but there are no apps in the [...]

This is one of the less satisfying finds. With most artists you can find high resolution images that display the work at [...]

Unwired View and others are reporting that Apple stores will be opening an hour early today. Some stores have confirmed this, and some have even admitted to having gotten more iPad 2 in stock last night. This could be good news, considering that the iPad 2 sold out within minutes of its launch last Friday. [...]

If you’ve been following the Apple in-app purchase fracas of late, then you might know that a log of people are hoping that web apps will be able to get around the need to pay Apple’s vig. If not, then let me explain. The way a web app works is that it uses HTLM5 to [...]
