Kobo have posted a promo video for the kTouch. I haven’t seen it; I’m at the end of a narrow pipe.
Check it out. It’s after the break.

Ever see Tim Burton’s movie about Ed Wood? The scene where Wood marvels over the possibilities of inserting stock footage? That’s exactly what this Kobo video has. It is brilliant in its WTF?!!? stock footage moments. Could have really used stampeding buffaloes as a finale.
Some interesting bits (no, not the stock footage ones, but man that stampeding buffaloes finale would’ve been sweet!) on this new reader. There aren’t enough open(ish) format, expandable touchscreen readers out there. I love my Sony PRS-650, and would like options should they decided to cede the field to Amazon et al.
However, I can’t help but feel that they’re not so much marketing this towards women (I did see a couple stock footage guys in there, I think) as it’s clubbing you over the head with its marketing towards women.
Were women not buying Kindles or Nooks or ewhatnots and Kobo decided maybe, just maybe, if they put little hearts or pastel quilting (seriously, pastel quilting?!) on it maybe women would finally make the leap to ereading or something?
Aw, lay off the quilting. They’ve had that since the original model. It’s actually quite nice. Better than a flat slippery back (not that the face plastic is slippery).
Well, tomorrow B&N comes out to play. We’ll see what they’ve got.
Didn’t know that about the quilting on the original. I don’t mind flat backs. Good for fitting into aftermarket cases.
I am curious to see what B&N offers up tomorrow.
It’s not a sticky back, so it fits into cases fine. Feels better than sterile plastic, really.
