The developers of the Noteslate writing tablet have shut down the website.
They announced today on Twitter that the site was now off line and that they planned to be back in August with some real news. Later tweets mentioned that the site would come back at the beginning of August and that it would relaunch with a new status update.
This looks to me like it’s a marketing ploy. They’re trying to build buzz for their non-existent product. I, for one, don’t care. I’ve had enough of their vaporware.
The promised release date of June @ $99 retail was worse than the usual marketing fiction. It simply wasn’t possible for them to have followed through on that promise.
Back in June, the Noteslate twitter account finally mentioned the screen tech they were using. This writing tablet is going to be built around a Bridgestone QR-LPD screen, and there is no way short of stealing the screen that the writing tablet could have had a retail of $99. The QR-LPD screens themselves cost that much (if not more). That’s an expensive peice of screen tech and Bridgestone are still recouping the cost.
P.S. I’m going to award the Noteslate a Unicorn Seal of Approval. It’s now in the same category as the Amazon tablet.

Of all the vaporware out there, the Noteslate was one of my favorites. I can’t wait to keep not using it.
