HP might have killed (and revived) the TouchPad, but hackers never gave up hope. There are reports over at XDA-Forums that someone has successfully overclocked his TouchPad to a speed over 50% faster than stock.
When it shipped, the TouchPad’s dual core CPU was set at 1.2GHz. Hackers discovered fairly quickly that they could change the clock speed to 1.5GHz with little risk or difficulty, and probably most hacked TouchPads are running at 1.5GHz now.
Now the CPU has been pushed even further. XDA member amirborna has posted a way to overclock the CPU (both cores) to 1.9 GHz. Unfortunately, the touchPad is unstable at that speed so I wouldn’t recommend trying it. But the good news is that you can over clock to 1.7GHz without the same problems and without shrotening your battery life.
I’d really like to do this, but TBH I have bad luck with risky procedures and I’ve learned to avoid them. I’m going to wait until it’s safe and easy.
