Updated: Black Friday 2011 – Tablets, E-readers, & Gadgets, Oh MY!

November 19th, 2011 by Nate Hoffelder · 10 Comments · Round up

Black Friday is coming up in just a few days, so I’ve been looking over the leaked ads. Here are a few of the deals I’ve found for tablets and e-readers.

(Updated Thursday morning)

Some of the deals are good but others aren’t, so I’m also linking to the relevant listing on Amazon. You’ll need to decide if the prices are worth it, but I figure that if Amazon sells it for only a little bit more then it’s not worth fighting the crowds.

Thursday Update: Amazon the Kindle DX on sale this through Monday for $259. That’s $120 off of the regular price.

Update: Amazon now has a Black Friday Deals page up. There aren’t any tablets listed but it has deals now and more are added everyday.

Update: On Wednesday you can find the Delstar Openbook (a budget 5″ e-reader) for $30 on 1saleday.com.

Apple

  • iPad 2 starting at $458 (retail is $499 and up)
  • iPod Touch starting at $178 (retail is $199 and up)

B&N

  • Nook Touch – $80 – This is a limited edition NT with white trim around the screen. It will be in stores on Friday morning.

Best Buy  has a number of tablets and even an e-reader on sale this year. Quantities will of course be limited, and stores will open at midnight.

Big Lots has the Pandigital Novel 9″  Android tablet on sale for $80. This is the refurbished model, so be careful.

hhgregg is also opening at midnight., but the deals aren’t quite as good.

Kmart opens at 5am but I’ve never known them to have the advertised items.

  • Nextbook Next3 8.4″ Android tablet – $120 ($252 on Amazon)
  • Leader i7 7″ Android tablet – $100 (not on Amazon)
  • Velocity Micro Cruz Tablet R102 – $70 ($78 on Amazon)

Kohl’s has a 7″ Android tablet from Polaroid on sale for $120. That’s a good price and it has decent specs, but I’m not sure it’s in stock anywhere.

Office Depot will be having online deals on Thanksgiving Day, and their stores will open at 6am on Friday.

Sears is one I’d skip. They’re like Kmart and rarely have the promised items in stock. Stores open at 4am on Friday.

Spencers TV and Appliance is reportedly going to have the Nextbook Next2 for $80 in stores on Black Friday. That’s a decent price, but make sure that the one you buy has the later firmware. If you’re not sure how to tell, get it and then leave a comment here on the blog. I’ll explain how to check.

Staples opens at 6am, and I’ve usually find some decent deals when I finally make it to my local store at 10am or so.

  • BlackBerry PlayBook 16GB tablet – $199 ($350 on Amazon)
  • Acer Iconia A100 7″ tablet – $190 ($349 on Amazon)
  • Toshiba Thrive 10″ tablet – $280 ($366 on Amazon)
  • NookColor – $200 (includes $25 Staples gift card) <- that’s retail

Toys R Us is the early bird. Doors open at 9pm on Thursday night.

Target opens at midnight.

Walmart has a number of different sales, with the first starting at 10pm on Thursday. I don’t see anything worth posting but you’re welcome to check for yourself.

Most of the above links lead to BlackFriday.info, which has full-page scans of Black Friday ads from various retailers.
