A number of e-readers and tablets are on sale right now, and there’s still time left to get them before Christmas. I thought it would be useful to put together a list of all the deals.
E-readers
Barnes & Noble is offering a $50 trade-in credit on the original Nook. You’ll have to bring your Nook in to a B&N store to get it, of course. You can also get $20 off a Nook by printing out this coupon. And of course there’s the $150 Nook Color refurb that you can find in B&N’s eBay store.
Best Buy is selling the ad-encumbered Kobo Touch for $80. I’ve also heard that Target is selling it for that price, too, but I cannot confirm the story.
Speaking of Kobo, Walmart has the Vox for $170, down from the usual price of $199.
Update: A commenter has told me that Best Buy is also selling the Kobo Vox vor $170.
The Sony Reader Wifi is on sale until Christmas for $99. You can find it at that price virtually anywhere, including Sony Style, Best Buy, Amazon, Newegg, and Buy.com. Sony is also offering a $50 trade-in credit for any working e-reader.
The Aluratek Libre Air, a largely unnoticed 5″ e-reader, is back on sale again. You can find it at B&H Photo for $69, or just over half of the regular retail of $129. Mine will be arriving today.
Tablets
Woot has the 16GB Toshiba Thrive 10″ tablet on sale Monday only for $290. It’s a refurbished unit and comes with a 90 day warranty. is selling for $289.99. You can also find this model on Amazon for $408, so this isn’t a bad deal.
Office Depot has the 32GB Lenovo IdeaPad on sale again for $300. This tablet can be had for $400 on Amazon, so that extra $100 is a pretty sweet deal.
And of course, everyone has the Blackberry Playbook on sale. You can find it at Office Depot, Best Buy, or Staples for $199. (if that rice is too high, you could always try to find the guy who stole a couple million dollars worth of Playbooks last week.)

[...] Thanks to The Digital Reader [...]
Sony is also offering a $50 credit towards a PRS-T1, in exchange for an old functioning ereader, pretty much any brand/model. You can see the details on the Sony site (http://store.sony.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ContentDisplayView?hideHeaderFooter=false&storeId=10151&catalogId=10551&langId=-1&cmsId=tradeup).
Thanks!
well i tried using their zipcode look up for directly near my area and the closest big city near me and sony doesnt offer any trade in/recycle facilities at all in those areas.
kinda sucky sony gets your hopes up and they dont even want to take your device and give the discount. i would have traded in my pandigital ereader for a nicer reading experience with a sony since thats about all this thing is useful for since it never allowed me to upgrade the firmware between 3 computers ive tried downloading it from.
Barnes and Nobe will give you a $50 gift card after you bring in your Nook and after you purchase a new Nook. They do not give you the gift card to purchase the new Nook with. At least that was what I was told last night. Seems a bit underhanded to me.
Kobo Vox is on sale at Best Buy online to for $179.
