One of the main topics for this blog last year was budget tablets, devices with minimal specs and a bargain basement price. Today I think Hyundai has redefined the category.
They are now selling a 7″ Android tablet in Asia that comes equipped with specs better is some way than some of the $300 name-brand tablets that shipped last Spring.
The Hyundai T7 is running Android 4.0.4 on a 1.4GHz quad-core Exynos. It comes with 8GB of storage, 1GB RAM, a pair of cameras (2MP and VGA). Screen resolution is 1280×800 which is supported by a quad-core Mali GPU.
This tablet also has GPS, a g-sensor, Bluetooth/Wifi, an HDMI port, and a microSD card slot. Stand this thing on end and I swear it looks like a Samsung Galaxy S3 or a Samsung Galaxy Note. Tell me I’m wrong:
I wouldn’t read to much into the resemblance. In the absence of any reviews it is going to be hard to say whether this tablet will function as well as Samsung’s smartphones.
But that’s okay with me. I’m more interested in how well this tablet will function when compared to the $99 dual-core tablets that I expect to see in the next couple months. The specs look so much better that this tablet looks like an excellent opportunity to get a device with specs (aside from the cameras) to a name-brand tablet only at two-thirds the price.
This tablet is currently shipping from PandaWill, and you can get it in the US for only $166 (shipping included).

Too much power (cpu+gpu) for a 3000 mAh battery :/
Powerful, Cheap, Good.
You can only have 2 of the above, and I guess they decided to forgo the third option.
So did you order it for your Craptab Hall of Fame? Would look nice next to that Mirasol eReader. /snark
