Who we are
Nate Hoffelder, General Editor and Malcontent at Small- This is me. I’ve been into reading ebooks since forever, but I only got my first ereader in July 2007. Everything quickly spiraled out of control from there.
Before I started this blog in January 2010 I covered ebooks, ebook readers, and digital publishing for about 2 years as a part of MobileRead Forums. It’s a great community, and being a member is a joy. But I thought I could make something out of how I covered the news for MobileRead, so I started this blog.
What we cover
This has grown into a news, review, & opinion blog. I cannot help but have opinions; it comes from writing the reviews. Even when I’m just reporting on news I will try to put it in perspective and this will often be influenced by my personal opinion.

Nate, the web_site looks great! Keep it going…
Your site has proven an invaluable resource for staying current on ebook trends. Thanks so much for your stories, links and currency. I’m now glued.
Good site. If someone has info/gossip/tips on something of interest for you, do you have a contact address to send it to? (Sorry, I know there is a spam risk.)
Never mind. I just saw the “Tip Us” heading which gives the contact address.
Great web site, guys. One suggestion: tried to share your blog on Twitter this morning and had to cut and past to get it to post. Can you create a one-step click on Twitter, Facebook, etc in order to share your blogs? Thanks.
That’s what the sharing buttons are for. You should be able to see them between the title and body of each post.
I’m delighted to tell you this site is the newest bookmark in my “must-read” collection. Your opinions are solid and well-expressed, and your writing sings. Congrats all the way around.
Thanks Nate! I read your site everyday and thinking about contributing somehow. Do you guys accept donations via paypal? Keep up the great work!
This is a great website!! I just found it trolling the internet. Thanks for all of the great info, Nate : )
Nate:
I am considering allowing Vook to publish one of my books. The price of $350 for conversion is fair. But I read today that you think there is no market for e-books. I wonder if you could detail why you think that. Seems that it depends on the author and the content, doesnt it? If Kim Kardashian wrote an ebook about her sex life, there for sure would be a market for it, wouldnt there?
Sergio
Where did I say that there is no market for ebooks? Please let me know so I can correct my or someone else’s mistake.
eBooks make up over 20% of the US book market. There’s definitely opportunity there.
I’m interested in e-book reviews? Do you carry any on your blog?
I don’t have the time.
Nate- you recently blogged about the Feedly for Safari “downloadable’ solution that you can get from the Freedly website and how great it works. When I download their extension and try to install it an Error Message is produced telling me the Extension won’t allow the installation. Searching Google for assistance I have discovered hundreds of people with the identical problem. Do you have a solution of how to install beyond a link to the Freedly website?
I don’t know anything about Safari, sorry.
Nate, I teach Journalism at Miami of Ohio. My Jrn 101 students will follow your blog as part of one assignment — starting the end of July. Is there any particular event (like the release of new products or a major conference) the end of July or early August?
Not that I know of. There are no events scheduled, and I have not read any rumors.
