Aluratek are one of those surprise entries into the e-reader market. They jumped in back in early 2009 with the budget ebook reader Libre Pro. They stayed in the market through the price war last year, and last fall they started adding new e-readers to their stable. The Libre Touch hit the market in January, and it is a fairly good ebook reader.

Review: Aluratek Libre Color
June 5th, 2011 · Gajah Reviews, hardware reviews
I’ve had this e-reader on my desk since before BEA 2011, and I have to say that I’m rather pleased with it.
Aluratek launched the Libre Color in late 2010, and it is their second e-reader. It’s a basic device with a so-so 7″ LCD screen (800×480), and it has 2GB Flash, a SD card slot, speakers, headphone jack, but no Wifi or touchscreen.
In terms of size and shape, it resembles a white brick. It’s a little heavier than your average e-reader, but I’d bet it’s also sturdier (I don’t have the guts to do a drop test).

Review: Prestigio PER3152B e-reader
January 16th, 2011 · Gajah Reviews, hardware reviews
I originally got this e-reader from the manufacturer, Gajah. At the time, it wasn’t available. But I’ve now learned that you will soon be able to buy it from Prestigio. I got it from the manufacturer as a surprise and it’s a fairly decent device.
Note: Prestigio will be selling this e-reader with a black case, not white and it might not have this firmware. It also might not have all the same software features. BTW, there’s at least two other e-readers from Gajah that shares this firmware. I caught a glimpse of one at CES, and the other is the Elonex 500EB. It’s basically the same device with some cosmetic differences (better screen, different button layout). The software features are identical.

Review: Elonex 500EB

This e-reader has popped up in several places over the last year. We first saw it on the JCPenney website last November, and it then showed up under the Copia brand. Both fell through, and it finally showed up under the Elonex brand. I’ve also been told by the manufacturer, Gajah, that it will be sold in Russia by Nexx. [Read more →]

Editor’s Note: The OEM for this e-reader is Gajah.
Kogan is a brand that forgoes brick and mortar retail and sells its product only via the internet. Known for its TV and other consumer products, this is its first e-book release. [Read more →]
Review: Gajah BK6001 e-reader
June 11th, 2010 · Gajah Reviews, hardware reviews
I’ve been waiting for one of these for a while now (you don’t want to hear me whine, beg, and plead; it’s not pretty). But I finally got one about 2 weeks ago. I was busy at the time so I didn’t post my first impressions (they were generally good). I’ve posted about Gajah before; they’re a tech company based in Singapore. I’ve called them the most widely distributed e-reader company you’ve never heard of, which I believe is true. This model is fairly new. Gajah had a dummy at CES 2010, and from what I can tell it only came on the market a couple months ago.
I’m not happy with the pictures I took, so here is a product image from Gajah. It will give you a better idea of the hardware design.
