by Chris Walters On Monday I wrote in a post that I think prices for ebooks have gone down since 2004. Over on Teleread, a couple of readers called bullshit on that statement and argued that actually prices have been creeping up thanks to greedy publishers.

No, the iPad2 didn’t show up at CES 2011
January 12th, 2011 · 1 Comment · Uncategorized
A couple of videos are going around today that purport to show an iPad 2 dummy. Supposedly a case manufacturer was given a dummy in order to work on a case and they “accidentally” brought it to CES. Yeah, right.

December 28th, 2010 · 5 Comments · opinion
Have you read the post by Phillip Ruppel, President of Mcgraw-Hill, over at Mashable? In that post he makes 5 predictions on the future of ebooks and digital content. I think he’s wrong on at least 4 of his predictions. The one that I’m not commenting on is his first, and it covers the rise [...]

December 20th, 2010 · No Comments · conferences & trade shows
At CES 2010 Freescale had a booth in the e-reader area. Next month they’re going to do much the same, only they plan have upwards of 25 tablets on display (according to my source). From Computerworld: The tablets all use Arm-based processors from Freescale’s i.MX family of chips and many of them run Google’s Android [...]

You might recall that back in May I showed you that Guinness World Records were working on an app. This isn’t it, unfortunately. No, today Guinness announced the digital edition of the Guinness World Records 2011. You have all the same content as the paper edition but without the weight. I’ve found it on Amazon [...]

I’ve just gotten word from Sungale that they are going to have a pair of tablet in their booth at CES in January. They’re going to bracket their competition with a 7″ and a 10″ Android tablet. The specs are still being finalized, but it looks like the Cyberus 1010 will be running v2.2 on [...]
Kindles are the hot gift for 2011
November 16th, 2010 · 3 Comments · hardware news
That’s not a prediction; I’m already seeing evidence that Amazon might be running out of Kindles to sell. I came across a blog post this morning by a librarian. Her library lends out Kindles, and they’ve been buying them 5 at a time (Amazon have an order limit due to demand). She tried to place [...]
