They’re reporting that they saw 175% more revenue in November through January than they did in the previous 12 months combined. That’s over 10 times as much revenue when expanded to cover a year. Of course, we don’t know what it was before, so the wow factor is dependent on that older number. This shouldn’t [...]

February 24th, 2011 · No Comments · hardware news
by Chris Walters Hmm, this feature may have been around for a while and I’m just now noticing it, in which case I feel like an idiot. At any rate, did you know that your Kindle can connect for free to AT&T wireless hotspots without requiring any logins, checkboxes or agreement buttons? You have to [...]
GMini to release 3 new epaper e-readers in Russia
February 18th, 2011 · 1 Comment · hardware news, Sipix
I’ve just come across another company in Russia with plans to release their own e-reader. I’d say at this point Russia is possible the second most active e-reader market (after the US). Gmini announced 3 new e-readers this week. One will have a Sipix screen, and the other 2 will have E-ink screens. First up [...]

All I have to go on is the press release, but wow. Look at the specs. These babies are v3.0 compatible (and the screen resolution, wowzers). I’m still waiting on pictures, and Velocity Micro doesn’t appear to be in Vegas for CES (actually, they are here). From the press release: Velocity Micro, the premier builder [...]

November 24th, 2010 · No Comments · Android

November 1st, 2010 · No Comments · ebookstore news
by Andrys Basten As mentioned here on Oct. 15, Amazon told its UK customers about its battles to avoid the ‘Agency Plan’ created by Apple with the larger publishers and that the latter would ‘require’ online booksellers to accept the plan to fix prices to be the same at all online stores (notably higher in [...]

3 New Games for the Kindle
October 15th, 2010 · 1 Comment · kindle app
I’m about 5 hours late on this (darn it), so I’m sure you know about it already. Three games showed up in the Kindle Store today: Minesweeper, EA Solitaire, and Triple Town . Actually, Minesweeper was already on the Kindle as an Easter Egg, so I suppose this is just 2 new games.
