Digitimes are reporting that Hanvon will be shipping their new e-reader with a color screen sometime in late March or early April. That’s not much information, is it? Let me give you another little tidbit. Hanvon will have the new device in their booth at CES 2011. Stop by and have a look.

As always, calibre is an open source tool for converting ebooks and transferring them to e-readers. You can find out more here: http://calibre-ebook.com/ New Features Update the version of the grahical toolkit (Qt 4.7.1) used in the [...]
First look at Hanvon’s new color e-reader
November 10th, 2010 · 9 Comments · hardware news
So Hanvon announced their e-reader yesterday the FBD 2010 trade show, and like almost all the tech blogs I had to work off the press release and stock photos (I hate that). But I kept an eye out, and here are some of the photos shot at the tradeshow. You can click on all the [...]
E-ink announces Triton color epaper (video)
November 9th, 2010 · 2 Comments · hardware news, press release
E-ink just posted a press release for the new Triton color screen. There’s not much to tell you, unfortunately. The specs for new screen are rather vague, and the press release was carefully written to mislead. Update: but there is a promo video on Vimeo. I added it after the break. It has color (but [...]

I guess this means Hanvon won’t be doing a Mirasol based e-reader after all. The NY Times have the story: But on Tuesday at the FPD International 2010 trade show in Tokyo, a Chinese company will announce that it will be the first to sell a color display using technology from E Ink, whose black-and-white [...]

I’m looking through the FAQ for the Nook Developer’s program, and I came across this interesting tidbit: Will my Android application run on NOOKcolor? Our products are reading-centric designed for the ultimate reading experience. Our e- reading platform is built on Android – however we have added unique customizations to deliver the ultimate reading [...]

I just came across this tweet by one of the senior people at Kobo: When you’re in the NY office, you miss all the cool device news, @ami_with_an_i http://dl.dropbox.com/u/139205/KoboColour.jpg If you look really close at the bottom of the picture you’ll see 3 icons: home, menu, and back. I’m guessing that this is an Android [...]
Nook Color demo video

I almost didn’t post on the new Nook Color today. Everyone else already has so it’s not worth my time. But then I found this demo video. The new NC has some impressive features. For one thing, it has a new reading app (it’s not using the Android Nook app).
Is this the new Nook Color?
October 24th, 2010 · No Comments · hardware news
CNet was tipped to a product page on the B&N website for a screen protector for the Nook Color Screen Film Kit. That’s not a photo, but it looks like a product image to me. The screen geometry is interesting. I’d say that this is a WVGA screen (800×480). I’m surprised. I expected them to [...]
Hanvon to release color e-reader this November?
September 5th, 2010 · 2 Comments · hardware news
My sources are telling me that Hanvon have announced that they’re planning to release a new e-reader with a color E-ink screen in November. I’d rate this as somewhat more than a rumor but less than a certainty. This is rather interesting, though. I’d pegged Hanvon as one of the likely Mirasol partners. If they’re [...]
