The Daily to launch in Europe by June

March 17th, 2011 · No Comments · ipad app

March 16th, 2011 · No Comments · opinion

by Piotr Kowalczyk Photo: Arvind Grover Reading on mobile phones is a subject of my continued fascination. How to help people read e-books on their phones? What to do to overcome popular prejudices? Adweek was the first to notice the 3 departures. Features reporter Lauren Bans and political reporter Jon Ward were the first to [...]

February 16th, 2011 · 2 Comments · opinion

One of my favorite bloggers just got hired to write a twice weekly advice column for The Daily. While I’m happy for her success, she is the epitome of why The Daily will fail. The blog is called CokeTalk. It’s an advice blog run anonymously by a female version of Lenny Bruce. If that’s too [...]

February 6th, 2011 · No Comments · opinion, software news

Jason Davis of Bookbee just came across The Daily in the Australian branch of iTunes. The contents the same, but the prices are about 20% higher. Will The Daily follow in the footsteps of Murdoch’s last digital newspaper?

January 31st, 2011 · No Comments · opinion

I wouldn’t be surprised if you didn’t know about Rupert Murdoch’s previous web based newspaper; this is the first I’d ever heard of it. Back in 1995 New Corp launched iGuide, a pioneering effort to bring daily news coverage to the web. It failed, and Evan Rudowski watched it happen. He wrote an article today [...]

Sony Daily Edition gets an update

December 15th, 2010 · 1 Comment · hardware news

Sony sent out an email today announcing a new update for the Sony PRS-950 e-reader. I’m actually surprised at some of the new features listed.  This update adds page sync and active web links, both of which should have been in the original firmware IMO. The  improvements include:
