You can get the Kindle4Mac app in the App Store but you can’t get iBooks. Does that make any sense to you? Okay, I know this means they don’t have the app ready for distribution, but don’t you think this is the one app that had to be in the app store on launch day? [...]

Apple post 6 iOS developer docs in iBooks
December 20th, 2010 · No Comments · ebookstore news
In a rather meaningless gesture, Apple uploaded a set of 6 iOS reference manuals to iBooks yesterday. The titles range from Cocoa Fundamentals Guide to iOS Technology Overview. If you’d like to read a manual on the device you’re developing for (the tautology is amusing), open iBooks and search for “apple developer”. That should help [...]

December 15th, 2010 · No Comments · software news
Apple have released iBooks 1.2 for iOS. New abilities include improved image support, collections, hyphenation, and printing. That last is the one feature that makes me drool. If you’ve read this blog for any length of time then you know that I’m obsessed with exporting notes from e-readers. It’s good that Apple gave us this [...]

July 19th, 2010 · No Comments · Apple, iPhone app, software news
I don’t have it, so I can’t give a first hand account, but this is what Apple reported as improvements: Double-tap an image within a book to view it in greater detail. Experience books that include audio and video. Enjoy substantial performance improvements when reading PDFs. Look-up definitions to English words inside books without a [...]
