Acer LumiRead now available with UMTS

A new version of Acer’s LumiRead e-reader is now available at libre.de. This  Kindle clone comes equipped with a 6″ E-ink screen, Wifi, a barcode scanner, a keyboard, and the new version adds support for UMTS cell networks. Acer LumiRead price dropped to 179 Euro

It hasn’t even been released yet, and Libre.de already lowered the price.  You can no get the Wifi equipped LumiRead for 179 Euros, and the 3G model for 229 Euros. It still cost too much, IMO. Libre.de via Buch Report

Acer to launch LumiRead at IFA Berlin

Johannes of Lesen.net is reporting that Acer’s 6″ Kindle clone will be formally launched next week. His source isn’t named, but he was told that the 3G model will be sold for 250€ in Germany in October. Update: It’s been confirmed.
