I wish all my favorite bands had iPad apps like this one. I’m talking about a wonderfully rich product called This Day in Led Zeppelin. The title makes it sound like all you get is a Zeppelin-themed calendar but it’s much more than that.

Review: Hanlin A6 – Sipix screen
February 10th, 2011 · No Comments · hardware reviews, Sipix
So one of the swag I brought home from CES this year was a brand new, just announced e-reader from Tianjin Jinke, a Chinese e-reader maker. It’s the Hanlin A6, and they announced the model that week. The unit I have is the OEM model, so when it shows up on the market it might [...]
Review: Prestigio PER3152B e-reader
January 16th, 2011 · 5 Comments · Gajah Reviews, hardware reviews
I originally got this e-reader from the manufacturer, Gajah. At the time, it wasn’t available. But I’ve now learned that you will soon be able to buy it from Prestigio. I got it from the manufacturer as a surprise and it’s a fairly decent device. Note: Prestigio will be selling this e-reader with a black [...]
Review: Elonex 700EB
January 13th, 2011 · 12 Comments · hardware reviews
So I wrote this review on a plane over Tennessee on my way to CES 2011. I brought the 700EB along not just so I could write the review but because the video and ebook abilities make it a pretty decent multi-function device. Unfortunately, I put it down on a counter at CES and turned [...]
Review: Aldiko v2.0 (early release)
January 4th, 2011 · 4 Comments · software reviews
The latest version of Aldiko showed up in the Marketplace a few weeks ago, and I’ve been meaning write a review. This trip to CES gave me enough downtime that I could jot down a few notes. The first thing you probably want to know is whether this app is worth buying. I would say [...]
Review: Pandigital 9″ Android tablet
December 17th, 2010 · 35 Comments · hardware reviews
The 9″ Pandigital Novel is not one of those gadgets that get launched with a lot of fanfare. It popped up on the FCC website a few months ago, and then it popped up on QVC.com without any actual announcement from Pandigital. I do find that a little odd, considering that this is the best [...]

Slick eReader Review
December 16th, 2010 · 61 Comments · hardware reviews
This week Big Lots! started selling the Slick eReader for $89.99. The store in my area had plenty, but then again I got there early on Sunday morning. The ad in the paper doesn’t reveal any real specs so here they are as listed on the reader’s box: 7” Color display 2gb internal memory SD [...]
Review: Elonex 500EB
December 14th, 2010 · 8 Comments · Gajah Reviews, hardware reviews
This e-reader has popped up in several places over the last year. We first saw it on the JCPenney website last November, and it then showed up under the Copia brand. Both fell through, and it finally showed up under the Elonex brand. I’ve also been told by the manufacturer, Gajah, that it will be sold [...]
Review: Next2 e-reader
December 13th, 2010 · 11 Comments · hardware reviews
I finally got my hands on one of the Next2 e-readers I showed you a couple months ago. This is a pretty decent e-reader, and it was slightly better than I expected. Read on for my review.
Review: Viewsonic VEB 620 (video)
December 4th, 2010 · 1 Comment · hardware reviews, video
This post is rather long and it tends to ramble. I’m writing not just as a review, but also as a epitaph for an e-reader that I expect to disappear from the market in the next month or so. But first let me give you my opinion of the VEB 620: Buy something else. This [...]
