They’ve also reduced the number of e-readers they sell. Borders launched their Area-e, the store department where they promote eBooks and e-readers, last year with the stated goal of having the broadest selection of e-readers anywhere in the US. There was talk of having 10 or more models on display for customers to try. Sidenote: [...]

Borders closing 28 more stores (map)
March 17th, 2011 · No Comments · borders
I’ve just come across another list of store closures which Borders released just yesterday. Once again, I have made a map, and it’s embedded after the break. The stores on this map will be closing in late May. It looks like 4 clusters, doesn’t it? I don’t think the ones in the midwest are close [...]

Unwired View and others are reporting that Apple stores will be opening an hour early today. Some stores have confirmed this, and some have even admitted to having gotten more iPad 2 in stock last night. This could be good news, considering that the iPad 2 sold out within minutes of its launch last Friday. [...]

And the downward slide continues… There was a conference call this afternoon that was led by Borders Group President Mike Edwards. RedGroup to close 38 stores
March 3rd, 2011 · No Comments · ebookstore news
A couple days ago I predicted that all 200+ bookstores owned by Redgroup Retail would close. It looks like I might be wrong. The court appointed administrators Ferrier Hodgson announced yesterday that 37 Angus & Robertson stores and only 1 Borders store will close. Also, none of the Whitcoulls stores in New Zealand will be [...]

AT&T and Amazon have announced today that the K3 3G will be sold in AT&T Wireless stores across the US. Retail will be the same as elsewhere ($189), but the Kindle Wifi will be notable in its absence. I wonder if Vodafone, who provide the 3G connection for the European Kindle, will be offering the [...]

She caught them as they were still setting up the kisok, so she didn’t take any pictures. That’s no important; it’s a kiosk in a mall and you’ve probably [...]

The Kansas City Business Journal are reporting that Pocketbook will open their first US retail locations on 10 November. The 2 pilot stores will be mall kiosks in Seattle and at the Independence Center Mall outside of Kansas City, MO. Why Kansas City? Because that’s where Pocketbook just opened their US headquarters. I had heard [...]

A look at my local e-reader stores
November 3rd, 2010 · 4 Comments · hardware news
I thought it would be interesting today to show you the 4 stores within driving distance where I can buy e-readers (Walmart, Staples, Target, and Borders). I’m skipping B&N becuase the closest one is nearly an hour away, and I’m sorry but it’s not worth a drive.
